I just spent two weeks in the Mexican Caribbean with four friends. Some of them I hand't seen in years, but it didn't matter. We explored jungles, mayan ruins, lagoons, and our respective new lives. We lay on tropical beaches halfway across the world like we did in the city park after school. We cooked pasta in a camping kitchen and borrowed tampons and sunscreen from each other.
The Yucatán Peninsula is a stunning piece of land and sea, rich with wilderness and dense with all the contradictions of a former colony. The Bacalar Lagoon, where these photos were taken, is by far of one the most beautiful places I've ever seen. I'm still developing and post-producing most of the photos I've taken and I believe it will take a while for this experience to sink in. While I do that, I would like to start by celebrating the wonderful, fun, intelligent, and beautiful women I was with.
